SI, among 3, killed in Narsingdi, Ctg road accidents

Three people were killed in separate road accidents in Narsingdi and Chattogram districts today.

In Narsingdi's Shibpur upazila, a sub-inspector of Demra Police Station, Md Sabuj, 30, was killed as a truck ran over his bike in front of Madina Factory at Karar Char area under the upazila around 9:00am, reports our Narsingdi correspondent quoting Demra Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Faruk Mollah.

He was rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital at first, and when his condition deteriorated, the doctors sent him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to injuries around 12:00pm, said Narsingdi Shibpur Highway Police in-charge Md Nur Uddin.

Meanwhile in Chattogram, two people were killed and two others were injured when a bus hit a pickup van at Mirsharai upazila early today.

The deceased were identified as truck driver Md Khorshed Alam, 38, and his helper Md Hassan, 42, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent quoting Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jorarganj Highway Police Station Md Alamgir.

Quoting eyewitnesses and locals, the OC said, a Chattogram-bound Ena Paribahan bus rear-ended a parked pickup van on the side of the road in Mirsharai's Chinki Astana area of Dhaka-Chattogram highway around 5:00am, leaving four people injured.

Locals rescued them and rushed to Mirsharai Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared them dead, the OC said.

Two other injured were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for better treatment, said the OC, adding that police detained the bus but its driver managed to flee.
