ACC busy catching small fries, not big fish, High Court says

The Anti-Corruption Commission is busy catching small fries instead of big fish, the High Court has observed.

The bench of Justice Md Nazrul Isalm Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat made the comment during the hearing of an appeal on Sunday.

Lawyer MA Aziz Khan was at the hearing on behalf of the ACC and Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state.

“Loan defaulters are not more powerful than the law. So why not take action against loan defaulters?” asked the High Court.

“Loans amounting to thousands of crores of taka are being defaulted; why do you not catch them? Are big defaulters above justice? Will the wealthy be out of reach? The ACC is busy catching small fries, not big fish.”
