Action if BNP gathers at Nayapaltan on Dec 10: Home minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said if BNP men gather at Nayapaltan on December 10, instead of Suhrawardy Udyan for their rally, police will take action.

BNP said many people would gather for them and that is why the police commissioner has allocated the Suhrawardy Udyan for their rally, he said while talking to reporters after the inauguration of the newly built Shaistaganj Police Station building in Habiganj today.

The BNP, however, said they will hold the rally at Nayapaltan instead of Suhrawardy Udyan, said Asaduzzaman.

It is the DMP commissioner's obligation to make Dhaka livable for two crore people, as the BNP has threatened to bring down the government by bringing the city to a halt on December 10, said the minister.

"If they gather in front of their office in Nayapaltan defying the ban of the police commissioner, police will take necessary action in this regard," he said.

The commissioner will take all necessary measures to keep Dhaka city functioning and the law and order situation normal, added the minister.
