Wasa Managing Director Taqsem A Khan today claimed that the media report on his houses in the USA is a complete lie while talking with a selected group of journalists.
"Before taking the responsibility of Wasa MD, I, my wife, and my children were US citizens. They (wife and children) do good jobs in the US with good salaries. My wife bought an apartment in the US with her salary. Apart from this, we don't have any other properties," he said.
He came up with the claim just a day after a media report said Dhaka Wasa MD bought 14 homes in the USA.
Taqsem was supposed to hold a press briefing at WASA head office today at 10:00 am. But when this correspondent along with some other journalists went to the office to attend the press conference, WASA officials said without a prior appointment none will be allowed to join the press conference.
As such many journalists were not allowed to join the press conference.
Later, Wasa's public relations officer Mustafa Tarek told journalists that the Wasa MD talked to the journalists who took an appointment earlier.
"But he (Wasa MD) will talk to other media shortly."
