2nd phase of Ijtema ends with Akheri Munajat

The second phase of the Biswa Ijtema concluded today on the banks of the Turag in Tongi with the Akheri Munajat seeking peace on Earth and prosperity for the Muslim Ummah.

Thousands of devotees from home and abroad were seen spilling into the adjacent roads during the munajat.

Many joined the prayers even from rooftops, nearby houses, and on the roads.

Yusuf bin Saad Kandhalvi, the eldest son of Maulana Saad of Delhi, conducted the Akheri Munajat.

Devotees from the surrounding areas started gathering at the venue in processions since Fajr prayer to take part in the Akheri Munajat.

Various offices, educational institutions and factories have been declared closed for the day due to Akheri Munajat.

Devotees came to Ijtema Maidan on foot as movement of vehicles from Tongi to Bhogra bypass on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, Kamarpara Road, and the Abdullahpur to Baipayl section on Ashulia Road was suspended from 6:00am.

Meanwhile, five devotees have so far died at the Ijtema venue during the second phase.

The metro rail service will run from 8:00am to 5:00pm today for smooth movement of the devotees.

The first phase of the three-day Biswa Ijtema ended on January 15.
