Locals block road after death of three in Faridpur road mishap

Locals staged demonstration and torched a bus after death of three people, including a man and his daughter, as a bus hit a motorcycle on Dhaka-Gopalganj highway at Munsurabad under Bhanga in Faridpur on Sunday.

The deceased are Main Uddin Sheikh, 35, of Dharmadi area under Nagarkanda upazila in Faridpur, his daughter Tabassum, 10, and Sourav Matubbar, 16, of Majhardia under Bhanga upazila in Faridpur.

They were on a motorcycle when they met the fatal accident.

Bhanga highway police station officer-in-charge Md Taimur Islam said that the accident occurred when a bus of Star Line Paribahan hit a motorcycle that left all the three of the motorcycle dead on the spot at about 12:30pm.

Immediately after the accident, the locals blocked the road, began demonstration there protesting against death of the three people and set fire to a bus there.

The locals withdrew the blockade after about an hour on assurance from the police, police officials said.
