DB submits final report claiming Fardin’s death suicide

Detective Branch of police on Monday submitted final report to the court into Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology student Fardin Noor Parash murder case claiming that he committed suicide.

The case investigation officer also petitioned the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court to relieve the case’s lone accused, Fardin’s friend Amatullah Bushra, of the charge.

The case investigation officer DB inspector Yasin Sikder filed the final report three months after the death of Fardin.

‘Our investigation found clear evidence that Fardin committed suicide by jumping into the river from a bridge,’ said Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner for DB Motijheel division Rajib Al Masud.

The DB officials said that their investigation did not find the death as murder.

Fardin’s father, Nuruddin, however, rejected the final report by the DB.

He said that he would file a no confidence petition against the report with the court.

The decomposed body of Fardin, 23, was recovered from the River Sitalakhya in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, on November 7, three days after he went missing.

Nuruddin informed the police that his son left their Konapara house at Demra on Friday, saying that he had an academic test the following day.

Fardin was with Bushra for hours on November 4 after he left his house for the BUET campus.

Bushra was arrested and placed on remand in police custody in connection with the murder case filed by Fardin’s father.

Bushra’s family maintained that she was innocent and had nothing to do with the death.

In mid-December, the DB and the RAB, in separate briefings, claimed that Fardin’s death was a suicide case as he jumped off a bridge into the River Sitalakhya.

Bushra languished in jail for two months despite no links were found in the incident. She secured bail and was released from jail on January 10.

Fardin’s father said that it was a planned murder and a powerful quarter is behind the murder.

Investigation agencies were influenced by the powerful and influential quarter and did not conduct proper investigation, said Nuruddin.

There had been planned slandering against Fardin from the very beginning and the DB investigation relieved the accused of the charges, added Nuruddin.
