Three people died after consuming spurious spirit in Jhenidah's Kaliganj upazila early today.
The deceased are Jahangir Kha, 35, Bipul Kumar, 45, and Rajib Hossain, 25, of Modhuganj village.
They bought the spirit from Reza Homeo Hall at Bus Stand area and fell sick after consuming the liquor last night, said Abdur Rahim Mollah, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station.
Jahangir died at his home while Bipul and Rajib died on the way to hospital, he said.
The medicine shop owner has been on the run since the deaths, police said.
