At least three people were killed and 15 were injured after a three-storey building collapsed and caught fire following an explosion beside Science Laboratory in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area on Sunday morning.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately as upper portion of the bodies got severely damaged.
The bodies were kept at the Dhanmondi Branch of Popular Diagnostic Centre, said the hospital’s assistant manager Rezaul Karim.
All the deceased were men, Karim said, adding that two women were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Bachchu Miah said that five people were undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute Of Burn and Plastic Surgery and eight people were undergoing treatment at the ICU of DMCH.
The explosion took place at about 10:52am, read a message sent by fire service and civil defence headquarters.
