Three people, including a child, were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a pickup in Bogra's Nondigram upazila on Monday morning.

At least five people were injured in the incident.

The deceased are auto-rickshaw driver Hefjul Islam, 45, son of deceased Abu Taleb of Damgara village of Nondigram upazila, Abdul Alim, 3, son of Tansen Ali of Omarpur village and Minhajul Islam, 22, son of Sakhawat Hossain of Namuit village.

Locals claimed that the auto-rickshaw was going from Nondigram to Bogra. A Natore-bound pickup truck collided with the auto-rickshaw head-on when it arrived at the Kunderhat bus stop area, killing three people on the spot, including the auto-rickshaw driver.

In addition, three other passengers, the driver and the helper of the pickup were injured.

Later, fire service members recovered the injured and sent them to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC).

The superintendent of Bogra highway police, Habibur Rahman, said legal action will be taken in this regard.

“The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to the relatives,” he added.
