Three people were killed and one was injured as a truck collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Haluagaon in Sunamganj town on Tuesday morning.
One of the deceased was identified as Md Soil Mia, 50, resident of village Mazidpur of Jagannathpur upazila while identities of the others could not be known immediately.
Local people said that the accident took place when the Jagannathpur-bound auto-rickshaw collided with a Sunamganj-bound truck at Haluagaon, leaving the auto-rickshaw driver and its two passengers dead on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations, Ikhtiar Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sunamganj Sadar police station, said.
However, the truck driver managed to flee the scene immediately.
