Motorcycles will be allowed to operate on the national highways of the country during the Eid rush.
However, restrictions on bikes to operate on Padma Bridge will remain in force.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today revealed the information after he held a preparatory meeting ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr at BRTA headquarters.
The minister also directed the authorities concerned to take necessary actions to ensure normal traffic movement on Dhaka-Gazipur section of the highway during the Eid rush.
The authorities had banned bikes on national highways ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha last year to reduce road accidents.
