Man found shot dead in Chapainawabganj border area

The Border Guard Bangladesh today recovered the bullet-hit body of a man from Chakpara border area in Chapainawabganj's Shibganj upazila.

The deceased has been identified as Sadiqur Rahman, 35, son of Taimur Rahman.

He was found dead near the Jamtala Bridge, about a hundred yards from the border line. The body bore marks of bullet wounds, said Lt Col Golam Kibria, commander of Rahanpur 59 BGB battalion.

"On information, a BGB team recovered the body and handed it over to the police. No gunshots were heard by the BSF and we also did not fire any bullets. Initial reports suggest that Sadiqur suffered gunshot wounds during an internal clash of smugglers," he added.

The body was sent to the district's Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Jobair Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station.
