At least 18 employees were burnt in a fire believed to have originated from a gas leak at a garment factory in Gazipur's Kashimpur area this morning.
Eleven of them were rushed to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka while seven others received treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, hospital sources said.
The incident took place around 9:00am at Cotton Club BD Limited factory in Dakshin Jurun area, reports our Gazipur correspondent.
Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy assistant director of Gazipur Fire Service, said the fire broke out from a leakage in gas pipe.
Among the injured, some sustained injuries after the fire spread following an explosion.
