Khaleda Zia taken to Evercare hospital

Former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been taken to the Evercare Hospital in the capital's Bashundhara Residential Area.

"Madam [Khaleda] suddenly started feeling unwell last [Monday] night," said Dr Rafiqul Islam, BNP's health affairs secretary.

So, Khaleda's medical team decided to take her to the hospital for treatment around 1:20am, he added.

The 77-year-old former prime minister, has been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, and problems in her kidneys, lungs, heart, and eyes.

Since her conditional release in 2020, the BNP chief has been receiving treatment at the hospital under a medical board headed by cardiologist Prof Shahabuddin Talukder.

She visited the same hospital for health check-ups on April 29.
