DU-affiliated college students block Mirpur road for 4 hours

Students from seven Dhaka University-affiliated colleges blocked the Mirpur Road in Dhaka's Nilkhet area for around four hours to place their seven-point demand, including result publication within three months of exams.

A huge traffic jam was created due to the blockade that started around 10:30am and was finally lifted around 2:45pm.

The students will have a meeting with Supriya Bhattacharjee, principal of Eden College and coordinator of the seven colleges, in Dhaka University at 4:00pm.

Most vehicular movement on the road was halted during that time, with the students allowing only school and college vehicles to go through.

According to the agitating students, they appeared for exams several months ago but the results have not published yet.

Shagor Newaz, a third-year student of Bangla department at Government Bangla College, said, "If any trouble comes, we go to the Dhaka University authority, but they ask us to talk to our college authority. And when we go to our college authority, they ask to talk to DU authority again. Where should we go, then?"

The government on February 17, 2017 affiliated Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Mohila College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College with Dhaka University.
