A man died after a bus ran him over in Dhaka's Jatrabari area this morning.
The deceased was identified as Alauddin Molla, 50, a private car driver.
The accident took place around 9:30am at Bhanga Press area, near the end of Mayor Hanif Flyover, said Belal Hossain, a sub-inspector of Jatrabari Police Station.
Alauddin suffered critical injuries after a bus of Nagar Paribahan ran him over. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 10:30am.
It could not be known immediately whether Alauddin was run over while crossing road or getting down from the bus, the SI said.
Police seized the bus but the driver fled, he added.
Hailing from Barishal, Alauddin used to live with his family in Mridhabari area in Jatrabari.
