A woman stabbed her husband to death in Dhaka's Rayerbazar area this morning and surrendered to police following a call at national helpline 999, police said.
The deceased was identified as Shamim Mia, 40, a rickshaw-puller.
Abul Bashar, a sub-inspector of Mohammadpur Police Station, said the couple got married two and a half years ago and used to live in a house in Sadek Khan Lane area.
Around 4:00am, Shamim and his wife Banu Begum got in a fight and at one stage, Banu stabbed her husband with a machete, leaving him dead on the spot, the SI said.
The woman later called 999 and told police that she killed her husband, the police official added.
The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for autopsy.
