Councillor at Riyadh mission sacked for sexual assault of female workers at safe home

The government on Thursday dismissed suspended former councillor (deputy secretary) at Bangladesh mission in Riyadh Md Mehedi Hasan from service for sexually assaulting several female house helps sheltered at the ‘Safe Home’ there in Saudi Arabia.

The public administration ministry issued a gazette notification to the effect, saying that Mehedi Hasan had been sacked as the allegations of ‘misconduct’ against him were proved and the president had approved his dismissal from service as per the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 2018.

Mehedi Hasan, now an officer on special duty at the public administration ministry, had been withdrawn from the labour wing of the Bangladesh mission in Riyadh on January 24, 2021 as the allegation of sexually assaulting the female domestic helps sheltered at the Safe Home of the Bangladesh mission in Riyadh were primarily proved well-grounded, according to the order signed by the ministry’s senior secretary Mohammed Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury.
