Police arrested the lone accused in a case filed over raping a woman at a restaurant in the capital's Dhanmondi area on July 3.
A team of Dhanmondi police arrested Mahadi Hasan Zarif, 25, from Jordan road under Kotwali Police Station in Barishal last night, Parvez Islam, officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi Police Station, told.
The accused admitted raping the woman, he said.
Quoting the arrestee, the OC said the accused met the woman near Dhanmondi lake on July 3 and took her to a closed restaurant on the sixth floor of a building on Sat Masjid Road, where he raped her on the restaurant's balcony.
The following day, the father of the 21-year-old victim filed a rape case with Dhanmondi Police Station against an unnamed accused.
