Three killed in clash over land dispute in Rajshahi

At least three people were killed and seven others were injured in a clash between two groups at village Musrapara Yazpur of Godagari upazila in Rajshahi on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Naimul Islam, 80, Meher Ali, 70, and Sohail Rana, 45, while the injured were Yunus, 22, Md Amu, 22, Md Raihan, 35, Md Monirul, 45, Md Soleman, 50, and Rajab, 31.

Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Godagari police station, said that two groups of villagers were locked in an altercation at village Musrapara Yazpur following a dispute over a piece of land at around 9:00am.

At a stage of altercation, the members of both the groups were locked in a violent clash that left dozens of villagers severely injured.

The police official said that local people rushed ten of the injured villagers to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared three dead.

He said that additional law enforcers were deployed at the village to avoid any kind untoward incident.
