US wants to see a free, fair, and violence-free election: Home Minister

The US delegation has said they want to see a "free, fair and violence-free" election in Bangladesh, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said today.

"We told the US delegation that law enforcement is ready and will work with the Election Commission during the polls," he told reporters after the US delegation, led by Under Secretary Uzra Zeya, held a meeting with him.

"The delegation also reiterated that they did not come here to support any political party; rather, all they want to see is a free, fair, and violence-free election in the country," the minister said.

The US delegation has also assured cooperation in the repatriation of the Rohingyas, added the home minister.
