At least three people were killed and five others were injured in collisions among a cattle-carrying human hauler, locally known as Votvoti, a battery-run three wheeler, and a bicycle on Rajshahi-Naogaon highway in Bakshail area of Mohanpur upazila in Rajshahi on Wednesday.
The deceased are — Jahangir Alam, 28, a resident of village Mohanpur under Mohanpur upazila, Abul Hossain, 75, a resident of village Sakoa, and Ajibur Rahman, 40, a resident of village Ziapara of Bagmara upazila in Rajshahi.
The injured are Mojibur Rahman, 60, and Taibur Rahman, 45, Ansaruzzaman, 80, Ibrahim Hossain, 32, and Mamun, 35.
Sakhawat Hossain, sub-inspector of Mohanpur police station, said that the accident took place at about 10:15am on Wednesday, leaving the trio dead on the spot.
Local people took the injured to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, he said, adding that a case would be filed in this connection.
