Students of 7 DU-affiliated colleges block Nilkhet again

The students of seven Dhaka University-affiliated colleges blocked the capital’s Nilkhet intersection on Sunday to press home their demand to relax CGPA requirements and allow them to sit for the final examination next year.

Students blocked the Nilkhet intersection from 12:25pm, leading to significant traffic congestion in the area.

The undergraduate students of seven colleges (2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020 and 2021-2022 academic year) have been protesting for over a month, including blockade in Nilkhet, hunger strike in the Press Club, demanding promotion in the next year by relaxing the conditions of CGPA policy of Dhaka University.

Their one-point demand is that the prescribed GPA or CGPA should be relaxed and promotion should be given in the next year through quality improvement tests up to three subjects.

However, the Dhaka University administration has maintained its adamant position on the CGPA conditions so far. As a result, hundreds of students from seven colleges are facing trouble regarding the final examination.

The students had earlier blocked the Nilkhet intersection on August 22 with the demands.
