Khaleda Zia taken back to cabin from CCU

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is now undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, was shifted to the cabin again from the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) today.

Earlier in the day, Khaleda was transferred to the CCU from the cabin as her condition deteriorated.
She was moved to the CCU following the advice of the medical board formed to treat her.

The former premier was moved to CCU twice last week as her condition deteriorated and shifted to the cabin when she improved.

The BNP chief has been staying in the hospital since August 9 this year.

Khaleda has been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung, heart and eye problems.

Since her conditional release in 2020, the BNP chief has been receiving treatment at the hospital under a medical board headed by cardiologist Prof Shahabuddin Talukder.

Meanwhile, family members of Khaleda applied to the home ministry seeking permission to take her abroad for better treatment.

Party sources said her brother Shamim Iskandar applied to the home ministry on September 25 seeking her permanent bail in graft cases and praying the government allows them to take the former prime minister abroad for treatment.

Law Minister Anisul Huq yesterday said that he would soon give his opinion on the application seeking government permission for Khaleda Zia to go abroad for treatment.
