The incident took place at the West Sonamati Camp in Baliadangi upazila of the district.

The deceased has been identified as Nuruzzaman, 45. He was a father of four.

His body is now inside the Indian border, said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB-50) Commander Lt Col Tanzir Ahmed.

"We came to know that Nuruzzaman was a cattle smuggler, and he went near the Indian border to bring cows,” he added.

A flag meeting has been held at the company commander level between BGB and BSF.

Amjankhor union Chairman Akalu said: “Nuruzzaman was involved in cattle smuggling. I have heard that he was shot by BSF inside the Indian border in the early hours of Monday. The body is in BSF 152 Sonamati Camp.”
