Masked people now beat Islami Andolan Bangladesh activist in Natore

There is no respite of picking up and beating opposition political activists by masked people in Natore district and now the victim is a madrassah teacher who is an activist of Islami Andolan Bangladesh.

The victim, Hafez Saidul Islam, 38, head of Majhdighi Nurani and Hafezia Madrasah in Natore Sadar Upazila, was picked up at Majhdighi mosque under Sadar upazila in the district Friday night.

Hafez Saidul Islam is the ninth victim of such kind of attacks on opposition leaders and activists by masked people in different upazilas in the district in the past one month.

According to police and family members, a group of five or six men wearing masks forcibly picked Saidul up in a white microbus while the latter was reciting from the Quran at Majhdighi mosque after performing the maghrib prayers.

Md. Tofazzol Hossain Sarker, chairman of Chhatni Union Parishad, told New Age that he came to know about the abduction of the madrasah teacher while he was attending a meeting in the evening.

He said that he rushed to the spot from where the teacher was picked up and informed the police about the incident.

The chairman said that they came to know at around 8:00pm that the abductors left the teacher at Chikur Mor area on Natore-Naldanga regional road, about three and a half kilometers away from where he was picked up.

‘The injured teacher was admitted to Natore Sadar Hospital as the abductors beat him severely on his hands and legs with hammers’, he added.

Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Natore Sadar Police Station, that the victim’s father lodged a written complaint with the police station and they were investigating into the matter.
