Judges scared, feel insecure, says CJ

The chief justice on Tuesday asked the inspector general of police to enhance security of all the judges, their courtrooms, transports and residences as they expressed anxiety, fear and feeling of insecurity following recent explosion of crude bombs and other incidents on the court premises.

Chief justice Obaidul Hassan issued the directive to the IGP and the Dhaka metropolitan police commissioner, according to a letter sent by the High Court Division registrar Munshi Md Mashiar Rahman on Tuesday.

The registrar said that bombs were blasted recently in the compound of Dhaka District and Sessions Judge Court, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court and Khulna District and Sessions Judge Court.
He said that earlier a justice seeker was killed inside the Cumilla district and sessions judge’s courtroom.

‘Ensuring safety and security of the judges is essential as well as security of their courts, residences and the transports carrying them in the interest of smooth functioning of the judiciary,’ said the registrar.
