Gold worth 1.4C found in cigarette packet at Chittagong airport

A total of 14 gold bars weighing 1.631kg were found in a cigarette packet found abandoned at Chittagong’s Shah Amanat International Airport Friday morning.

The gold was recovered in a joint operation of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) deployed at the airport.

At 10am on Friday, these golds were recovered from the conveyor belt number 2 of the airport in an abandoned state. The matter was confirmed by Md Al Amin Pradhan, revenue officer of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department in charge of the airport.

He said: "The current market value of the recovered gold is Tk1.40 crore.”

The recovered gold is expected to be brought to Chittagong Airport in the morning by Air Arabia
