A Dhaka court has ordered to seize the property of Mohammad Rassel, the former CEO of the e-commerce company Evaly, and chairman Shamima Nasrin in a case filed over fraud.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Farah Diba Chanda passed the order on Thursday morning.
She also ordered the issuance of a police circular containing the description of the personal features of both the accused.
The plaintiff's lawyer Sakibul Islam said: "On February 15, the court issued an arrest warrant against the accused. Then I applied for the issuance of a wanted circular and seizure of property. After the hearing, the court granted the request.
According to the case statement, on February 20, 2021, Mujahid Hasan Fahim, a resident of Dhaka, ordered a bike worth Tk5 lakh and paid for it.
Fahim contacted Evaly's Dhanmondi office when he did not receive the motorcycle within 45 working days. From there, he received a cheque from the company.
On August 23 of that year, Fahim was informed by phone from Evaly that the company did not have enough money in the bank account. He was requested not to deposit the cheque with the bank on the due date for encashment.
They guaranteed him that he would pay Fahim’s money later, but did not.
