11 injured in gas line blast in Chittagong

At least eleven people from three families were injured in an explosion caused by a gas line leakage in a building in Chittagong on Friday.

The incident took place at around 1am in the Signal Shankar Dewanjihat area in Chandgaon.

The fire broke out on the third floor of the building.

]The injured have been admitted to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Chandgaon police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidul Kabir said that the condition of some of the injured is critical.

Chittagong Divisional Fire Service Assistant Director Md Abdul Malek said: "The third floor of the building caught fire at night due to a leakage in a gas line. Before the fire service team reached the spot, locals rescued the injured and sent them to CMCH.”
