Singer Sadi Mohammad found dead at Dhaka home

Singer Sadi Mohammad was found dead at his Mohammadpur house in the capital on Wednesday. He was 69.

Mohammadpur police station sub-inspector Zahangir Alam, from the spot, said that circumstantial evidence showed that Sadi Mohammad committed suicide.

The official said that he was found hanging inside a room of his house.

Sadi Mohammad’s body has been kept at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, said dancer Shamim Ara Nipa.

‘His namaz-e-janaza will be held in front of Sadi Mohammad’s house at Mohammadpur on Thursday,’ she said.

Sadi Mohammad was director of cultural organisation Robi Raag.

He completed his bachelor’s and master’s in Rabindra Sangeet from the Visva-Bharati University in West Bengal in India.

He was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award by Channel i in 2012 and Rabindra Award by the Bangla Academy in 2015.
