Woman held captive, gang-raped for 25 days in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur

A young woman has been held hostage, chained up and allegedly gang-raped for 25 days in a house in Dhaka's Mohammadpur.

Police later rescued the rape survivor, following which she filed a case with Mohammadpur police station on Sunday, but the three accused men and a woman who assisted them are absconding.

The accused in the case are her alleged boyfriend, Saan, 26, and his two friends, Himel, 27 and Rocky, 29. The woman who apparently helped them is Salma alias Jhumur, 28.

DMP Tejgaon Division Mohammadpur Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Azizul Haque said: “Upon receiving a phone call, a young woman was rescued from a flat in the Nabinagar Housing area.

Operations are ongoing to arrest those involved, he said, adding that details will be provided later.

Police reported that the victim was chained and raped by her boyfriend and his two friends for 25 days in a flat, with assistance from another woman. The case also includes allegations of recording the rape.

More details will likely be shared in a press conference on Monday.
