Dhaka, Dec 13 (Just News): The motorcade of Prof Abu Sayeed, an Oikya Front candidate for Pabna 1 constituency, has been attacked in Santhia upazila of Pabna.
Prof Sayeed’s car was severely damaged in the attack which took place around 11:30am on Thursday, Santhia police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Hossain said.
Prof Sayeed, who was campaigning in Pabna 1, said “Three of my employees have been injured. Of them, one is missing. Two cars and three motorcycles were also vandalized. “The attackers stole one of our motorcycles.”
However, no one was injured in the incident, the OC said.
Prof Sayeed alleged that the attack was carried out by Chhatra League General Secretary Chhana, and his supporters, under the leadership of upazila Awami League General Secretary Tapan Haider Shaan.
“I filed a complaint with the police station and the returning officer. I am taking all legal steps,” Prof Sayeed said.
When contacted, Tapan denied the allegations saying that Awami League, Chhatra League, or its other organizations were not responsible for the attack.
Prof Abu Sayeed is a former Awami League state minister for information but he joined the Gono Forum, a component of Jatiya Oikya Front, on November 26.
Legal action will be taken in this regard, OC Jahangir Hossain said.
