Pabna, Dec 26 (Just News): BNP Candidate for Pabna-4 constituency Habibur Rahman Habib has been stabbed allegedly by Awami League men just before attending an election rally in Ishawardi upazila of Pabna today.
Habib was stabbed from behind as soon as he reached Ishwardi Alhaz School field around 12noon for the election rally which was scheduled to be held this afternoon, our Pabna correspondent reports.
Although police took security measures ahead of the rally, some 12-15 men wearing Awami League badges attacked Habib with knives and machetes, according to the witnesses.
Confirming the incident, officer in-charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Bahauddin Faruki eight people were detained from the spot in this connection.
Habibur Rahman Habib has been sent to Iswardi General Hospital, the OC said.
