Army patrolling as country gears up for election

Dhaka, Dec 28 (Just News): Army personnel are patrolling different areas of the country including Dhaka to maintain law and order situation ahead of the December 30 general election.

They were seen checking vehicles at key points of the capital today, our staff correspondent reports.

Meanwhile, in Narayanganj, an army team led by Major Mahmud conducted a drive in the city.

They searched buses, cars and pedestrians at Chashara area of the city from 3:00pm.

However, Major Mahmud refused to talk to the journalists regarding the drive.

While talking to our correspondents, locals said that army deployment ahead of the election has reassured them of a fair and peaceful election.

The army personnel were deployed in 389 upazilas and navy personnel in 18 coastal upazilas to maintain law and order situation ahead of the upcoming national election. The deployment will continue till January 2.

On the other hand, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel, who have been deployed since December 18, are carrying out their duties in 87 upazilas along the country’s border.
