A female footwear factory worker was killed in a fire that broke out at her house at Gilarchala village in Sreepur municipality early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Selina Akhter, 35, daughter of Nurul Haque of Daulatpur village in Kamarkhand upazila in Sirajganj and a checker of a footwear factory.
Al Amin, station officer of Sreepur Fire Service Station, said the fire originated following a gas cylinder blast while Selina was taking preparation for cooking in the kitchen.
The fire also gutted four tin-shed rooms, he said.
Selina was burned alive as she could not get out of the kitchen, said the official.
On information, police recovered the body, said Ahsan Ujjaman, sub-inspector of Sreepur Police Station.
