A housewife was burnt to death allegedly by her husband at Joynabari in Hemayetpur of Savar early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Rina Begum, 45, wife of Shahidul Islam.
Quoting family members, police said Shahidul married to Rina three years back.
On Wednesday night, Shahidul picked up a quarrel with Rina over issues. Later, Shahidul beat Rina up mercilessly and set her afire after pouring kerosene on her, leaving her injured.
She was taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared her dead.
The body was taken to hospital morgue for autopsy, said Golam Nabi, in-charge of Harindhara Tannery police outpost.
Immediately after the incident, Shahidul went into hiding, he added.
