Ducsu polls: 24-hr restriction on movement inside DU

No outsiders will be allowed to enter the Dhaka University premises for 24hrs starting from 6:00pm tomorrow for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) election slated for March 11.

The authorities will not allow anyone inside the DU campus unless they have valid DU passes or ID cards, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah today.

He was addressing a press briefing at Shahbagh Police Station regarding the security ahead of Ducsu election.

Check posts will be set up at seven entrance points of Dhaka University, the commissioner said.

Vehicles without a valid university pass or sticker will not be allowed into the campus for 24 hours from 6:00pm tomorrow, the official said.

Even rickshaws will not be allowed inside the DU to ensure security in the area, he said.

However, some rickshaws will be kept inside so that people can move inside the campus using those, he said.

All voting centres will also be monitored with CCTV camera, the DMP official said.
