BSF pulls out finger nails of Bangladeshi man

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has tortured a Bangladeshi man and pulled out all of his fingernails at Naogaon border.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members found Azim Uddin, 20, from the village of Dakkhin Patari (Tulshidanga) in Sapahar upazila, lying unconscious on the bank of Punarbhaba River on Saturday morning.

Sources said Azim, along with a gang of cow dealers, went across the border to smuggle in cows on Friday night.

They were returning to the country past pillar 242 when men from BSF 60 Battalion of India’s Bamangola gave chase. The others escaped, but Azim was caught.

Reportedly, the BSF men took Azim back to the camp, tortured him and pulled out his fingernails.

When he fell unconscious, they dropped him at the Punarbhaba River zero point.

BGB admitted Azim to Sapahar Upazila Health Complex. He is now at Sapahar Hospital.

Lt Col Tuhin Mohammad Masud, director of 16 BGB Battalion, confirmed the incident and said BGB will file a case with Sapahar police station.
