A suspected member of banned militant outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir was arrested from Charail area in Keraniganj on Thursday.
The arrestee was identified as Riaz Uddin Sepai, 35, a member of Dhaka District (South) of the militant group and son of Alauddin Sepai of Bhandaria upazila in Pirojpur district.
Tipped off, a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit conducted a drive in the area and arrested Riaz around 9 pm, said Anisur Rahman, inspector of CTTC.
Some sharp weapons, huge jihadi books and leaflets were recovered from his possession.
A case was filed in this connection.
