A Bangladeshi man was tortured to death by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the border in Satkhira Sadar upazila last night, his family members claimed.
Kabirul Hosen Molla, 32, son of Abdul Aziz Molla of Kalani Chhoy Ghoriya village went to the border area along with a few others last evening in order to bring Indian tea leaves, the victim’s brother Rabiul Islam Molla told.
Members of BSF chased the group and caught Kabirul. However, the other group members managed to flee the scene.
“BSF (men) tortured my brother and poured kerosene in his mouth and rectum before dumping him in the no man’s land along the border,” victim’s brother claimed.
Locals recovered a severely ill Kabirul and rushed him to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead in the wee hours of today, said Officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Mustafizur Rahman.

Lt Col Golam Mohiuddin Khandakar, commanding officer of BGB-33 Battalion, confirmed the death. “We are trying to find out whether BSF is responsible for the incident,” the BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) official said.
