As part of the crackdown against casinos and bars, Rapid Action Battalion today recovered a huge amount of cash worth around Taka one crore and gold ornaments from the flats of two local Awami League leaders in Old Dhaka area of the capital.
Based on a tip off, a team of Rab-3 conducted the drive around 10:00 am at two flats of a building in Murgitola area of Gendaria, Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, senior assistant director of Rab’s legal and media wing, told.
The two flats belong to Enamul Huq Enu, assistant president and Rupom Bhuiyan, joint general secretary of the ruling party's Gendaria unit, the Rab official said.
Around one crore cash and 720 tolas of gold were recovered from the two flats, he said.
The drive was going on when this report was filed at 12:30pm.
