JSD leader Badal dies

Moinuddin Khan Badal, freedom fighter, leader of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) and Member of the Parliament of Chattogram-8 constituency (Chandgaon-Boalkhali), died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in India early Thursday.
He was 67.

His brother Moniruddin Khan said that Badal breathed his last around 5:00am. Badal was suffering from cardiovascular complications, Moniruddin said, adding that he was taken to India for regular check-up two weeks ago.

He was admitted to Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences in India’s Bengaluru on October 18.

Badal’s body would be brought back to Bangladesh soon, he added.

Badal is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.

The executive president of JSD faction was elected lawmaker thrice from Chattogram-8 constituency.

Badal, who was involved with Chhatra League in his student life, actively participated in the Liberation War.
