BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today categorically announced that his party men would never wait for permission from the concerned authority to hold their programmes.
“From now, we will not seek any permission to hold our programme. We will arrange our programmes as we wish,” Fakhrul came up with the announcement expressing anger to the government for frequently denying the party running its political activities.
BNP wanted to hold a rally demanding immediate release of imprisoned Khaleda Zia in front of its Nayapaltan central office on Saturday but failed as it was not given permission.
Claiming that the government has snatched people’s rights to vote and to speak independently, Fakhrul called upon his party men to go for a mass upsurge in a bid to ensure release of party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.
“Today, there is no difference among us. We will take to the street together and will create a mass upsurge to restore democracy in the country and to free Khaleda Zia from jail,” he said.
The BNP leader also reiterated his demand of holding a free and fair national election under a neutral Election Commission revoking the December 30 national election.

Party leaders and activists thronged the meeting venue with placards, festoons, banners with portrayed of Khaleda Zia and party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
