The Victory Day programme came under attack on Zilla Parishad premises in Brahmanbaria on Monday and photos of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and prime minister Sheikh Hasina were vandalised.
Witnesses said that a group of attackers swooped on the Zila Parishad premises and vandalised the photos at about 9:15am when a programme was going on marking Victory Day.
Zilla Parishad chairman Shafiqul Alam visited the spot. A procession was brought out protesting against the vandalism.
Shafiqul Alam demanded punishment of everyone involved in the incident.
Additional superintendent of police Alamgir Hossain said they were investigating the matter.
