Case filed against Luxury Fans owners, manager

A case has been filed against five owners of Luxury Fans Ltd and its manager over the fire on the factory premises that killed 10 workers on Sunday.

The case was filed by Kamal Hossain, father of one of the deceased workers of the factory Rashedul Islam, on Monday.

Joydebpur police station Officer-In-Change Javedul Islam confirmed the matter.

At least 10 people were killed, and 15 others were injured in a fire that ripped through the factory premises, at Keshorita in Sadarupazila of Gazipur on Sunday evening.

A five-member committee was formed to investigate the fire incident, and it was asked to submit its report within seven working days.

The factory was operating illegally without any approval from the government.

Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) Joint Inspector General Farid Ahmed said: "Luxury Fan Factory owned by Ruza Hi-tech was operating in Kashorita village under Baria union of Gazipur Sadar upazila without any approval.

“If anyone wants to establish a factory, they first need to take approval from DIFE, or else no other authorities will issue them trade licence or any other approval.”
