A UPDF member (Prasit group) was shot dead by the unidentified miscreants at Moratila area in Panchari upazila of Khagrachari around 10pm on Friday.
The deceased is Mahin Tripura, 30.
The body was recovered from the spot. The reason behind the murder could not be known yet, said officer-in-charge of Panchari Police Station Md Nurul Alam.
It is suspected that the murder has occurred in conflict of two local groups in the hilly area, the OC added.
