Queues formed at 2 centres to show high voter turnout

Our reporters stationed at different polling centres across the city have found instances of “artificial queues” being formed to show high voter turnout in the Dhaka City Corporation polls.

At the Dhaka University Laboratory School polling centre, supporters of AL mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh formed a false queue, reports our correspondent from the spot.

At Adarsha High School in Mirpur-10, supporters of AL mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation Election Atiqul Islam also created an artificial queue by locking the polling centre’s gate.

Even though voters could not get in, the supporters formed a queue making it look as though there is a massive turnout, the correspondent reports.

Meanwhile, at Cherry Grammar School at Ibrahimpur in Kafrul, voters were frustrated as they were waiting for a very long time to get into the polling centre.

They claimed that the polling centre was empty yet voters were not being allowed inside. In fact, one to two voters were being let in, every 10 minutes or so.
