Bangladesh Nationalist Party senior joint-secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday alleged that the poor are crying for relief across the country as the Awami League men misappropriated and looted relief amid the coronavirus crisis.
He made the allegation while inaugurating a programme to provide relief materials at people’s doors by a social organisation ‘Future of Bangladesh’ at Rajarbagh in the capital.
The BNP leader said that the government rice is being misappropriated by the AL men while labourers are crying for relief goods and nurses of Kuwait Maitree Hospital are not getting food.
He criticised the government for sacking some doctors and said that the government was showing arrogance instead of cooperating.
The government provided opportunity to their party leaders and activists to misappropriate people’s relief as they were working unilaterally for them, he alleged.
Urging all to come forward to work together to overcome the situation, he said that the government’s main responsibility was to create the unity.
